In 1898 the Valvida Expedition was commissioned by the German ruler Kaiser Wilhelm II and led by scientist Carl Chun to explore the ocean below 500 fathoms. It was on this expedition that the VAMPIRE SQUID was first discovered. The distinct cephalopod was originally classified as an Octopus by Chun, but was later re-assigned to a new order of taxa that contain characteristics of both octopi and squids. The VAMPIRE SQUID is now a phylogenetic relict, the only known survivor of its order. From that daring expedition in 1898 to the 21st Century we bring you............ VAMPIRE SQUID APPAREL!
Vampyroteuthis infernalis, lit. "vampire squid from Hell"
